Welcome to the Jackson County Library

“Adult & Teen Winter Reading Program at Your Library”

Adults & teens – 7th-12th grades -, are you feeling the winter blahs?  The library has the answer.  Curl up with a good book this winter and earn prizes by reading!  The “Hot Reads for Cold Nights” winter reading program has kicked off at the Jackson County Libraries and will run through March 31st.  Adults & teens are invited to stop in the library, pick up a punch card, and start reading or listening to books.  Get 12 punches on your card (by reading or listening to 12 titles) and earn two great prizes.  Punch cards are available at the library.  Participants may complete more than one punch card but prizes may be collected only once.  For more information, call your local library.

"You Tube Video Competition For Teens"

Teens in grades 7-12 are invited and encouraged to participate in a You Tube video competition.  The event is being sponsored by the Jackson County Libraries and Pioneerland-SAMMIE-Plumcreek Teen Co-op.  Prizes will be awarded on the local level as well as cash prizes on the regional level.  Participants are asked to submit a 1-5 minute video that features your library.  Teens may enter on their own or as a group.  Videos will be judged on entertainment and informational factors.  Entries will need to be posted by Friday, February 5, 2010.  The videos will be shown and winners announced on Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 pm.  Winners will not need to be present.  Contest rules and information can be picked up at any of the Jackson County Libraries.

"Adopt Program Beginning at the Library"

If you would like to offer direct support to the library’s collection, the Adopt Program gives you the perfect opportunity. You can choose to adopt a book, magazine, DVD or any other material for the library. It is a wonderful way to honor or remember someone special in your life. With your donation, the library will buy a book or any other material to be placed in the library, with a book label indicating both the donor and honoree. For example, if you’d like to make a lasting memorial to a member of the family who loved to garden, we can buy a gardening book. Or if you want to honor the birth of a child, we can buy a children’s book. Are you done reading the latest bestseller? Donate it to the library to share with others. You may also choose to adopt any book in the current collection. This program is the perfect opportunity to keep the collection at your library growing.  Please contact library staff for more information.

Read and Share Magazine Exchange

Done reading those magazines? Think it's a waste to just throw them out each month? Bring them to the library and share them with other magazine readers. In each Jackson County library, there's a table where you can leave the magazines that you're finished with, and while you're there, browse through the magazines that others have left....maybe you'll find something interesting.
